Baghdad (NINA) – The Iraqi Football Team has been crowned with the title of the friendly championship in the UAE by winning beating the UAE team 1-0 scored by forward player Mahdi Karim in 20 min.
Four teams represented by Iraq, UAE, Czech Republic and Azerbaijan participated in the championship.
The match was zealous, in spite of its friendly state, where the Iraqi players' experience settled the match early to raise the cup of the championship and gain the golden medals leaving the silver medals for the players of the UAE team.
The Iraqi formation comprised the goalkeeper Mohammed Kasid, defenders Basim Abbas, Ali Hussein Rehaima, Salam Shakir and Mohammed Ali Karim, mid-fielders Nashat Akram, Hawar Mulla Mohammed, Salih Sadeer and Mahdi Karim as well as forward players Younis Mahmoud and Mustafa Karim. The Iraqi team adopted pressurizing the player with the ball to control the mid-field to make use of the attack capacities of the Iraqi midfielders to result in creating more than a chance for scoring such as the ball shot by Salam Shakir at 8 Min. and that of Mustafa Karim at 11 Min. which went wide.
Due to continuous Iraqi pressure, the UAE defense line committed a mistake when Hamadan al-Kamali missed to clear a ball in front of Mahdi Karim who succeeded to put it in the goal, scoring the first goal for the Iraqi team.
The match witnessed heavy attendance of the Iraqi fans that supported the Iraqi team in Qattara Stadium in Ein city of the UAE.
The Iraqi player Mahdi Karim won the title of the best player in the match. /End/
