Baghdad (NINA)- Wednesday daily press mainly covered the security operation in Nineveh province as well as political developments.

Lion Roar
Over the ongoing security operation in Mosul, Azzaman said the Iraqi Accord Front has welcomed the operation, stressing that any security lenience would revive the gunmen's "sleeping cells." The paper quoted MP Saleem al-Jubouri, IAF's spokesman as saying that many gunmen had fled Himreen and upper Nineveh areas after the commencement of the operation.

Azzaman reported that Kurdistan regional government has announced support to Nineveh operation, asserting that Peshmerga forces will not take part in the military actions.

Al-Mu'tamar quoted a security source at Rabiya border district as saying that the Rabiya border crossing with Syria was closed down upon starting the Nineveh operation, adding that curfew was imposed in the border area with Syria within Nineveh province and several suspects were detained during raids conducted in the area.

Political developments
Al-Sabah said the government is concentrating its efforts currently on implementing a comprehensive development plan to include economy, politics and diplomacy, aiming at upgrading the governmental performance by providing bases for that end. The paper noted that the government is looking forward to the conference on the UN-sponsored International Compact with Iraq, due to be held in Sweden. The government intends to participate in the conference with a senior Iraqi political and economic delegation headed by Premier al-Maliki. The paper noted that the Sweden conference will be held in a time that Iraqi government is working on widening and developing its foreign relations and negotiating with the US administration over the terms of the future long-term cooperation agreement that some Iraqi members of parliament assert that it would not include establishing permanent US military bases in Iraq, considering that issue "a red line." /End/
